The Carolina Chamber Symphony Players On Thursday, June 10, musicians from the Carolina Summer Music Festival will present a special fundraising concert in Old Salem featuring jazz and tango highlights from sold-out concerts of previous seasons as well as a preview of the 2010 season.
The concert will take place at 7:30pm in the James A. Gray Auditorium at the Old Salem Visitor Center, with acomplimentary wine offering preceding the event at 7pm. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased in advance at the Old Salem Visitor Center box office by calling 336.721.7350. Vocalist Martha Bassett, a Carolina Summer Music Festival favorite, will sing jazz arrangements from the Great American songbook, including music of George Gershwin and Cole Porter. She will also offer a sneak preview of “Moon River: The Words of Johnny Mercer,” the featured jazz concert for the 2010 season. For the last two years, the Carolina Summer Music Festival has provided exciting and critically acclaimed concerts throughout Winston-Salem. From August 14 to 28 this summer, the 2010 Festival will feature over twenty-five Triad musicians in seven unique concert programs of jazz, classical and contemporary chamber music.
