James A. Gray Auditorium
Old Salem Visitors Center
February 15, 2009
3:00 pm

  • The Emperor and the Nightingale / by David Mullikin.

The title work on this family-friendly program is based on Hans Christian Anderson’s The Emperor and the Nightingale. It is the captivating story of a Chinese emperor who loves the beautiful song of the nightingale, but rejects the rather plain looking bird for a bejeweled mechanical bird. The story has been set to music by David Mullikin, a contemporary composer and music educator.

  • Flute Quartet no. 1 in D Major, K. 285 / by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
